Gates-MacGinitie Reading Test

What: This assessment measures the general level of student reading achievement.

Who: This is designed for students from Pre-K to adulthood and to be given in the fall and spring of each year beginning with the spring of kindergarten.

When: You would use this assessment to gather information about the students' reading abilities, especially if you do not have any existing knowledge.

Instructions: Give each student a testing booklet. The vocabulary section should be complete first. Use the Directions for Administration manual for instructions.

Note: Given students a break between sections of the test.
