Writing

What: This assessment is a writing task. This is designed to determine the student's writing stage.

Who: This is designed for students in grades K-12.

When: You would use this when you wanted to learn more about how well a student can convey ideas and use punctuation.

Instructions: Read a book or start a conversation. Ask the student his or her favorite part of the book and ask them to write about it.

Note: Watch where student starts on paper, how they hold the pencil, if they are talking to themselves, etc. Pretend to write a story yourself while taking notes. Have your written story prepared before you test the student.
